Leaders love to debate what is most important for organizational success: Culture, Strategy, or Talent? Of course, all three characteristics are essential for long-term accomplishment. But which one fuels the most success? Of late, culture has received an enormous amount of attention because it is often fragmented or in disrepute in many organizations. While it hasn’t always been viewed in this way, a strong and positive culture is now thought to be indispensable for an organization’s success.
I agree with all the above, but there seems to be an order effect to them. That is, Talent begets Strategy, Strategy begets Culture. I'd probably through in Execution between Strategy & Culture to make a four-legged stool instead of three.
If we equate execution with talent, then we'd have to do the same with strategy and culture. Strategy is an idea, carried out by people. Culture is the manifestation of what behaviors are recognized and rewarded by the most powerful people in charge within the organization. The People make the place. I think of People as Talent, Talent as Potential, and Leadership as the catalyst that turns as much of that potential into energy as possible. Had fun thinking out loud about this post today. Good stuff!
So much to discuss in just 15 minutes about these ideas this morning!

I've always operated with culture as a byproduct.
Not that you aren't working on it, but culture happens as a result of working on strategy and talent, among other areas.
Does that mean I'm thinking like a management consultant? *horrors*
Interesting idea, Steve. Will bring it up this way when we take time to discuss it this morning.

A cross brace?
Or a fourth leg?
Might you think many people would equate execution with talent?
