We think leadership means sacrifice, but often it means releasing others from it.

Not to push, but to point. Not to command, but to clarify.

“You owe it to yourself” is intelligent compassion.

It frees people from burnout and blind obligation.

Funny how the people most in need of this kind of reminder are usually the last to give it to themselves. The real work as a leader is noticing when to say something, not just what to say.

This is good for me to remember since my community building is so focused on the collective and I am a nurturer! I must nurture me first to do my best work! We all owe it to ourselves to raise the bar so we can improve outcomes, whether individual or collective.
