This certainly challenges those wishing to leave a "legacy" at work. Perhaps we would be better at doing the work and moving on to the next task at hand. Regarding a lasting impact, that is where interactions with our family and community may be important.
I’m not a big ‘“leave a legacy” person. For the teams I’ve led I had two goals - 1) leave it in a better condition than you found it; and 2) make sure things are in place so the department/Team will not only survive, but continue to perform at a high level if you were to leave suddenly.
