Stories engage, inspire and influence. They bring color and light to create new understanding. By using stories to convey insights and lessons, leaders enable people to grab ahold of an idea quickly and store it in memory. Because people learn best from stories, leaders naturally use stories to communicate their most important points. Good leaders are always in search of a powerful story to carry their message.
One thing I have been working on is cleaning out really old stories that I've relied heavily on in the past and working on developing new material base on more recent events. It's hard, but I find myself thinking when I tell an old tried and true, "You're really telling this story again?" Anyone else feel that way?

Well, if it is a go-to story that you've refined, remembering to hang on to it for new audiences is a good practice.
Your kids will definitely keep you in check on telling the oft repeated tales.
But like a fan of a specific stand-up comedians, there is a comfort in hearing the old routines. Especially if they communicate a core value.
Very good word. Thank you.
