We attend way too many meetings and engage in too few conversations. While the best meetings have some conversation-like qualities, the idea that status, agenda, and information drive meetings makes them very different from conversations. In meetings, people often compete to stand out, get heard, and advocate for their ideas, resulting in unfocused discussions replete with interruptions and digressions. It's no wonder then that people don’t look forward to meetings and no one asks for more of them. Heaven forbid.
I covered the importance of conversations on my recent podcast Jan 9th https://www.youtube.com/@buildingrenaissanceleaders. We were discussing the need fore harmony in organizations and the role leadership plays. You should watch that video. I am doing a Q&A on this topic Jan 23rd 8 pm central time zone for my Renaissance subscribers. Having a conversation has a lot more impact than most people realize.
Hi A.L. Looking for some help here. I am sure I read in one of your blogs something that looked like contrasting definitions of effective and efficient. I have looked but am not finding it. Can you find it and send it to me? I very much appreciate BRCase@FocusedOnFundraising.,com But there again, maybe I read it somewhere else?? thx ben
