One thing I do is when I'm getting bored with a nonfiction book, I will skim through the remaining chapters paying attention to the headings of anything that looks interesting or new to me. I'll mark those, and then go back and read those sections carefully before setting the book aside.

This is the advice and coaching I’ve always given to our corporate secretary regarding the critical importance of detailed cover memos to accompany all of the sections and documents included in board packages.
