Such a smart, wise point of view. Small, simple change of approach makes a great, big positive difference. Thank you so much for the suggestion. I will put it into practice more often and, above all, more consciously.

With me! Complain is easy ! Just open the mouth then you can complain everything but the realy important is to fix and change the problem to be better that's the rule of thump I keep in my mind!.

About the admiral leadership I thought they can make world change from the war become peace ! And everyone will think about the future to contribute to the world like we can do some project to discover the other planet!!!. Terrible when every day some one just try to Kill then retaliation get back. Why they don't put the money like billion ,billion dollars to corporate to search or contribute the project for the people. May be that question because with my Small knowledge! . Thanks admired leadership.

Thank you for sharing different perspectives on complaining. We are told that we should not complain, that is irritable and unwanted. That positive remarks are always better. I do feel that complaints have their place and can be a more positive way of expressing the need for change. I don't always feel that a positive statement about a desired change has the same impact. Complaints do create focus on a problem and, perhaps, offers solutions. Complain for the right reasons, for bringing about positive change, and for having the impact needed to get your point heard.

Do you have other behaviors you practice that might lower resistance to the complaints you offer, Bob?

I am one of those who struggle with constant whining. I have always been stoic in my thinking. I accept what I can't change, try to change what I can, but reduce complaining as it does not help anything. The realist, after all, adjusts his sails to take advantage of any wind available. I see complaining as futile. A lesson I've learned here is to turn the whining back to the sender. What would rather be done? What are they willing to do about it? It is a lesson borrowed from one of the earlier posts about how to turn critics into co-partners.

Me too. I've gotten better over the years, but old habits are hard to break. I find myself complaining is situations where there is an obvious injustice or grievance. I don't complain about the little things anymore. However, complaining is still complaining and turning a complaint into a request is something I will start practicing today.

That remains a challenge, David. Luckily for us old geezers, the biggest room in the world remains improvement.

"It's not complaining, I'm just telling you about my day."

If my reputation has become a person who walks in the door and starts listing the review of grievances from the day... I have to remind myself I AM NOT developing my authentic voice for my non-existent stand up comedy routine. I'm just ruining my reputation and my energy around people.

A lot of us struggle with coming out of that ditch.
