Follow the Blue Angels model. After each performance and practice they take off their symbols of rank and have fully truthful discussions about each individual's actions.

Periodically, allow your direct reports to tell you the truth in a round table discussion. The team will be far better for it!

Can it be done well if It’s just periodic? Or like the Blue Angels does it need to be part of a team’s culture?

If it is periodic it can be and must be part of the culture

If the cadence in periodic is daily.

There might be a line somewhere that allows someone to improve their self awareness. But with those that I know who lack self awareness, I don’t know that they have capacity to increase. A minimum starting point is likely necessary to increase it don’t you think?

Love this post—so true and well said! Vulnerability’s essential components are self-awareness and empathy.

This is a fantastic topic.

Would love to know if other resources out there to increase self-awareness.

I’ve done the various studies / measurement systems and personality tests of myself and other team members, but have yet to find a solid resource for those who know they need to increase their self-awareness and desire to get better.

Starting to read “Insight” by Tasha Eurich based on an Admired Leadership monthly workshop reference from an attendee.

What else is out there? Anything beyond books? Any Admired Leadership behaviors that promote greater self awareness?
