Amazon’s Jeff Bezos became so frustrated by the ineffectiveness of PowerPoint presentations that he banned them for all major decisions. So does Tesla’s Elon Musk and Twitter’s Jack Dorsey. Given the popularity and efficiency of PowerPoint slide decks, why would this be?
I worked at a consulting firm that insisted everything go into a .pptx for internal communication and client facing. My fav alternatives that help me think are Dropbox Paper (although I don't like how files are saved, hard to find). Anyone have a favorite? Also, does anyone have an example of 'a briefing' deck as mentioned in the post? I'm always trying to find better ways in keeping my stakeholders informed. Thanks for the post today!
The most common mistake is using your slides as a place for personal notes. If your deck is used to keep you on track… you aren’t prepared for your presentation.
Do you have a point that just needs to be demonstrated visually in a way that words just don’t work? That’s when you would consider a slide.
