Team members who believe deeply in what a company stands for and in the talents of their colleagues generate a feeling of organizational pride. When people feel pride they experience a boost in self-esteem and confidence and work harder to achieve the outcomes central to the organization or team’s mission.
We had an interesting debate earlier this year about whether to include the word pride in our updated Mission, Vision, Values statements. The group ultimately dropped using the the word pride, but it's essence still lives in one of our Values statements on Accountability - We take full ownership of our actions. I was surprised by the debate. For all the wordsmithing that comes with projects like these, Pride generated the most discussion.

Like humility… those who practice these qualities well also understand the irony in hanging the label on themselves and wisely avoid them.
Hmm … sounds like part of the quality that made them a proud group is the thing that prevented them from being too public with the word?
