In the world of hospitals, patients, and physicians, there is a quality metric that speaks volumes about how well doctors and nurses think critically and attend to those who need them. Failure to Rescue
As with everything leadership, it is the same with teaching. Some professors, departments, and even universities weed out underperforming students leaving only the best. That way their job is easier, and they then pretend the quality of their students is an indication of the quality of instruction. In reality, true teachers, like true leaders, find potential in all their charges and raise them up.
I believe this is possible if the only thing a team player is lacking in is experience. If they've been in the job for a while (or industry) and they are still average performers, in my experience, they tend to remain average performers. No matter how much effort you put into developing them.

Opportunity might also be a lacking factor.
Fabulous!!
Hi, Beth. Glad you found value.
Let us know what you disagree with any time too.
As usual, an excellent article, putting the development of PEOPLE first.
Why do you think this is seldom a priority in organizations, Linda?
A point of reflection for us all. And maybe we won't all like what that reveals.......
That is an indicting and encouraging question at the same time.
