Anthony Albanese our Prime Minister is so focused that the professional capacity he has, fills me with envy. If oh only I was as sharp and as focused, many of the barriers I confront would dissolve. Problems and issues that confront me like mountains, would dissipate and become little more than molehills.
Our PM is an upstream manager while I am trying to quell the raging river and its torrent of confronting problems. How I wish I could apply his recipe for success to my situation.
Yes it is important to possess situational awareness. If you're frontline, we must find ways to manage upwards.
A lot of leaders I know have their why. The unfortunate part is they lack the how. Thankfully, they can manage their job and maintain their large salary.
Unfortunately, they are often clueless about their team/s. This means if it's all about money, so be it. Don't expect your team members to stick around though. If they are good at what they do; they'll often transfer departments, locations, etc...
Some are so beaten that they leverage their current position for one in a different field. Only to be making more than they would have, had they stayed.
I like your three C's. I believe it's equally if not more important to know your people. That's IF you wish to maintain and develop them.
One of my favorite posts yet. I love the analogies for drift and realignment.
We need reminded more often than we need taught.

For me, the way to curb the drift is to create a system. What I do when. That keeps me on track better than no system.
No one drifts toward their purpose, only away from it.
