One might find a similar benefit in reducing the time horizon of a scenario as well.

Never thought about it in terms of eliminating half the potential contributing factors, but that totally makes sense.

"time frame"

If you have a vexing problem and, as a thought experiment, cut your time horizon down to one day. The way you'd solve for a problem that must be solved tomorrow often carries much of the same mechanisms if you had a much longer deadline too.
