Flip the script here. When someone says “I’m not homophobic”, that’s the surest way to confirm for me that, at worst, they are. At best, they are fearful of their own identity. To that effect, labeling one’s self can be a red flag.

BUT…

I advocate for people to think of how they are and how they want to show up in all aspects of life. These descriptive terms do have an internal utility.

That said, telling me you’re humble is the most in-humble thing a person can do.

Wow!

This is a thought-provoking article in itself, and it kept me wondering:

"Is this the way people perceive my worth all these while I tag "Dedicated" to my [job title]?"

I don't know if the data was tried on a larger group of people to ascertain this programmed response you made mention of.

However, as an individual, one thing is sure:

Subjectively, I do roll my eyes if people continually tell me who they are.

"Show me. Don't tell me."

Let your actions speak louder than what you say you are. Only then do I believe.

Even as I pride myself as "Dedicated", the results are there to speak for itself.

Nice read!
