Sometimes people want to hear themselves talk, but beneath that desire often lies a deeper need—to feel seen, heard, and validated. The tendency to always find a problem might stem from an instinct to protect or improve, even if it comes across as contrarian or pessimistic. Leaders who cultivate candidness should look past surface behaviors and help their teams distinguish between speaking for connection and speaking for contribution, setting the stage for honest dialogue that aligns emotional expression with actionable insights.
